CAREGIVER
Caregiver Network Inc. www.caregiver.on.ca
Canadian site for the caregiver. This is good information for the caregiver
presented in an easy-to-find manner.
Caregiver Survival Resources www.caregiver911.com
Very simple well-done site by a couple in the care-giving field for
people who are or will become caregivers as well as for seniors who
may need a caregiver.
The Caregiver’s Handbook www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~drstall/hndbk0.html
San Diego County (CA) Mental Health Services offers a step-by-step guide
to the physical and emotional needs of both the caregiver and the patient.
National Family Caregiver’s Assoc. www.nfcacares.org
For the caregiver, NFCA is a non profit organization in support of care-
givers in general. A two-window site, older computers may have a little
trouble.
CEMETERIES
African American Cemeteries Online

A genealogical site for those who wish to search cemeteries in a historical
sense. B.J. Smothers has done a nice job.
Find A Grave www.findagrave.com
One can search for grave sites of the famous and not so famous on a
nicely laid out site by Jim Tipton. Includes a store where one may click
and order a "Find A Grave" T-shirt. Site is supported by banner
advertising.
International Cemetery and Funeral Association www.icfa.org
Association of funeral and cemetery providers with a consumer info area.
DISPOSITION
Internet Cremation Society www.cremation.org
While a commercial enterprise there are no annoying ads all over the
pages. More of a portal for cremation related businesses. There is some
good general info as well. Explanation of and portal for cremation societies.
Celestis www.celestis.com
A retail site for those who
wish to have their cremated remains
launched into space.
Funeral Consumers Alliance www.funerals.org
A non-profit ombudsman type site, the site promotes cremation but offers
lots of info on disposition issues. Nice redesign.
Summum www.summum.org
A verbose kind of hard to navigate site, it is still rather interesting
and is the only site on human mummification. Yes, it is legal. Parents,
check it out first before the kids get on.
Organ donation www.organdonor.gov
Health and Human Services site with basic info and ability to print
a donor card.
Body donation www.med.ufl.edu/anatbd/usprograms
For those interested in donating one’s body to medical schools
this site has a listing of all schools who participate in the program.
END-OF-LIFE DECISIONS
Last Acts www.lastacts.org
This is a public education campaign funded by the Robert Johnson foundation,
a philanthropic healthcare organization with a strong interest in end-of-life
research. Lots of info and is objective. Homepage can be confusing with
so much info and small print.
Partnership for Caring www.partnershipforcaring.org
A non-profit advocacy organization with emphasis on end-of-life. Merged
with the well known Choices in Dying (whose predecessors created the
first living will in 1967) and offers free Advance Directive from its’
site.

The Jewish Funeral Directories of America www.jfda.org
Member supported organization of funeral providers for people of the
Jewish faith. Provides listing of funeral provider members.
Funeral Net www.funeralnet.com
A commercial site designed in a clunky way, one needs to look it over
carefully to find what one is looking for. Worth it if you take a bit
of time.
National Funeral Director’s Association www.nfda.org
A site by and for the professional funeral provider there is info for
the consumer, listing of member providers and related links, including
state associations.
Funeral Ethics Association www.fea.org
A site for the consumer who has a complaint against a funeral provider
and needs mediation or an ombudsman. Free.
GRIEF
SUPPORT
Beyond Indigo www.death-dying.com
A big site with lots going on. The membership is free. The site is supported
by products and services.
The Compassionate Friends www.compassionatefriends.org
TCF is a national non-profit, self-help support organization for bereaved
parents, grandparents and siblings of children who have died. There
is no religious affiliation, membership dues or fees. Local chapters
are listed.
Grief Net www.griefnet.org
A non profit nicely laid out site with a number of resources and integrated
online grief support. Covers different loss and grief issues.
ILLNESS/DISEASE
Healing Well www.healingwell.com
This is a thriving community and info resource site for medical news,
feature articles, health info, patient stories, message boards and chat
rooms. There is free email, news letters, directories for patients,
care givers and family coping with disease/illness.
American Cancer Society www.cancer.org
Best known cancer organization, lots of info both nationally and locally.
Ageless Design www.agelessdesign.com
A commercial site with services and products for sale, offers free info/links
for dementia type illnesses.
SENIOR CITIZEN ISSUES
Care Scout www.carescout.com
Search site for nursing homes, hospices, assisted living, home health
in U.S. Both free and fee services offered.
A Place For Mom www.aplaceformom.com
An elder care referral site The referrals are free, plus some general
info available as well.
Senior-Horizons www.senior-horizons.net
A directory of links for and about senior issues.
MISCELLANEOUS
American Bio-Recovery Association www.americanbiorecovery.org
National association of businesses that clean up crime and trauma scenes.
H.E.L.P. www.help4srs.org
Healthcare and Elder Law Program DDIC is a big fan of this site and
organization. A non-profit, this site is for seniors, people responsible
for seniors, people going to become seniors, and the handicapped or
infirm.
The
Good Endings Program http://www.goodendings.net
Provides
facilities with materials to educate staff, assist them in developing
their own Good Endings programs, and will provide info on recruiting,
training and facilitating them on Vigil Teams.
